Quality traditional and modern Hawaiian lei hulu arts handmade in Kapa’a, Kaua’i. Each lei starts as a large pile of feathers that need to be cleaned, cut, trimmed and sorted into specific sizes based on the type of lei being made and type of feathers being used. Each feather is then either sewn or wili (wrapped) one at a time with multiple stitches/wraps to make the finished product consisting of hundreds of feathers. My lei are fuller and tighter which improves quality, design and value. These are truly heirlooms – meant to last decades. This is a historically significant Hawaiian craft I hope to honor.
